A rare opportunity to purchase a historic painting.
This painting is about the burning of the Wrightsville-Columbia bridge by the Union Militia on June 28, 1863.
In 1913 the artist painted the image in reverse on the backside of a sheet of glass. My father acquired it in 1937 and it has been in the family ever since. According to researcher Chris Vera the painting was to celebrate the 1913 Old Home Week in Columbia, a festival to commemorate the burning of the bridge and the founding of the town of Columbia.
For being 107 years old it is still in very good condition and is one of only a few know to exist.
