** I've been burned personally hiring a local DJ, so I understand that you are facing a tough decision with so many so-called DJ's available in the area with a wide range of pricing. In fact, this experience is why I got back into DJ'ing. In my case, we booked a DJ through a recommendation from a co-worker. Despite the fact that I provided a list of songs to set him in the right direction and requested clean versions of all music, the very first song at my daughter's sweet 16 was full of curse words and explicit sexual references. He then basically let his laptop play through a playlist while he took several smoke breaks outside. The night was a mix of bad music, low quality equipment, mics that cut out, poor mic presence, unprofessional behavior and dress, a total lack of actual DJ'ing skills, and to top it all off he then grabbed the mic and decided to sing. I wish I was making this stuff up. Don't let this be your experience, hire a professional DJ!
