Hello, so these iridescent sharks have been with me the entire time! Since babies. I didn't know a lot about these fish until a year or 2 after I bought them. These fish can get up to 3 ft long and should be in 150 gallon + tank. I've had mine in a 29 gallon. And if you're reading this right now you're probably like, wow stupid right?! Well I have had them for 7 years and I LOVE THEM!!! But yes, big mistake, and I just cannot do it anymore! I made a mistake because I love their nature and how chill they are, but they deserve to live out their life in the proper setting, with the proper size fish tank, and a person that is not an amateur when it comes to having fish. I literally have tank issues every other month because I cannot keep up with their ammonia and nitrates. They are little feasters! I'm back in the gravel and add water every other day . Spring water at that! But eventually it turns into fish or tail rot. My one fish doesn't have a couple sets of his fins. The ones at the Bottom, the 2 little ones, and his Top Fin. The other one does, but his top fin is also bad. This has been a cycle that is went on for a couple years, and when I show you pics there's nothing in the tank, because I tried to deduce by taking things out 1 at a time, because I thought that it may have been something I introduced. And I've done everything I can to fix it, but the ONLY fix is a really LARGE TANK!!! AND, someone that knows what they're doing! The silver dollar is also 7. I got him at the same TIME. His partner died about 6 months ago. These sharks are his buddies. I bought a whole new tank set up, but it's only 75 GALLON, and I realized even in 75 GALLONS, they will not be ok. I bought the tank before I knew their true necessity for size in a tank .
An ecosystem and keeping it correct is so hard. Especially, a fish tank. I Now understand that the tank I bought and when I set it up New, is going to need much smaller fish and fish that won't get any bigger than probably the size of my thumb. And much research on how many go in there. Before I get any new fish I will make sure that I read about them and educate myself before purchasing. It took me so long to realize I cannot care for these fish, but I love them, so I really need them to go to a great home. Price is negotiable. I was just trying to make the money to be able to purchase gravel for my next tank. What I really need is somebody to give these guys a GREAT home where they can THRIVE, and not be sick all the time! I would just need pictures of the tank you intend to put them in and to have a good conversation and if you're the right person then let's get this done!
Fish enthusiasts and hobbyist on high levels please don't judge me :-(
Also, the tank that I have along with the stand it sits on (not in the greatest shape), minus the filter and heater, if you would like to have it for other smaller fish, or need a quarantine tank for your house, you may have it. It also has a cubby inside of it that holds fish supplies.
