Gettysburg College is seeking a casual part-time Computer Helpdesk Assistant reporting to the Director of Infrastructure and Computing (IC) Department. They will be given their daily duties by the Computer Helpdesk Coordinator and work closely with the Computer Support Technicians. The IC Department is part of the Information Technology (IT) division that supports campus academic and administrative technology operations and initiatives.
This position is predominately remote and flexible. Equipment to perform duties will be provided. A normal work week for this position will usually be between 10 to 16 hours per week, with potentially forty hour weeks when covering for vacations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Computer Helpdesk Coordinator. Attention to detail and exceptional customer support are essential to this position. The Computer Helpdesk Assistant is also responsible for answering the IT Helpdesk line, replying to emails, assigning Helpdesk tickets, running reports and distributing loaner equipment. This will include:
● Provide excellent customer service and relations
● Answer the IT Helpdesk phone
● Use helpdesk ticketing software to assign, retrieve, update, and close status of current assignments
● Reply to IT Helpdesk emails
● Create new hire reports
● Maintain Gettysburg hardware assets through its inventory/helpdesk ticketing system
● Troubleshoot desktop operating systems and applications
● Liaison between end users and others in IT to resolve computer related issues
● Assist Board of Trustees connecting to wireless network
The successful candidate will possess at a minimum a high school degree. Experience troubleshooting Macintosh and PC hardware, current operating systems and software is a plus. The ability to work as a team and to deliver excellent customer service. Demonstrated work experience in an organization having a strong focus on the delivery of high quality customer service. Applicants must document past related experience demonstrating specific expertise in the above areas. The Computer Helpdesk Assistant needs to be solution oriented with the ability to problem solve and work under pressure. They should have excellent written and oral communication skills. They must be able to pay attention to details. They need to be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
